A lot of people look forward to the summer heat but there are also a lot of people who dread it. If you are one of those who dread it and have finally decided to cut the summer heat off at least in one part of your home, then a Window AC Unit may just be the perfect air conditioner for you. To learn how to go about window AC installation, please read the following instructions listed below.

Most window air conditioning units manufactured today are already sold with mounting brackets for easier window AC installation. Follow the steps below if you are ready to install your window AC.

Window AC Installation – Simple Instructions

Step 1: To start off the process of window AC installation, slide your air conditioner bracket to your window sill. Make sure the bracket is properly mounted and that its screws are screwed tightly. Check if the center screw is screwed in such a way that the window AC is aligned properly to the bracket.

Step 2: Fit in the window AC inside the bracket by sliding the window AC into the bracket and pulling out its extensions. Make sure the locations for screw insertion are properly drilled. The extensions of the window AC should also be pulled out to allow provisions for your screws.

Step 3: Screw the window AC to the window sill tightly.

Step 4: Insulate the window AC from the window sill using foam. This will also prevent the cool air from your window AC from coming out of the room.

Step 5: Pull down your windows and make sure they are fixed tightly to make sure the window AC is properly secured.

During the process of window AC installation, there are some things you need to keep in mind. One is to make sure the air conditioner is slightly tilted to allow proper water drainage. If you window AC has angular brackets, you can secure the entire system better by screwing the brackets into the window sash. If you want to install window AC in a room upstairs, make sure to work with extra caution. It is also very important to remember that with window air conditioning unit, you only cool down one room, as it is not the same as a centralized air conditioning unit. Well, there you go, window AC installation instructions, when done properly, can be done in no time at all.

Things to Remember for Window AC Maintenance

Window air conditioners are very much in demand these days as the summer heat is increasing day after day. These air conditioning units are used to the fullest during the summer season but are not taken care of properly during off seasons. However, if you want your window AC to be in tiptop condition, you need to perform window AC maintenance. If your unit is not properly maintained, it can be defunct and will only make you spend a lot on repairs. Window AC maintenance is a relatively simple task to perform. When you do it, you don’t only increase you window AC’s life, you also control your electricity bills. If you have decided to perform window AC maintenance, below are some things to check carefully.

Window AC Maintenance – Thermostat’s Temperature and Air Filter Replacement

When performing window AC maintenance, it is important to make sure that the air filter is replaced according to your manufacturer’s recommendation. Make sure to check the quality of the replacement to minimize the number of times you will be replacing it. Always check the thermostat level and make sure it is maintained at a constant level, whether or not you are at home. If the temperature is at a constant level, the window AC doesn’t need to work much just to cool the room.

Window AC Maintenance – Air Vents and Cooling Coils:

Make checking and cleaning your cooling coils at least once a year a part of your window AC maintenance routine. You can clean the cooling coils by using pressured water. Just make sure the device is turned off while cleaning. You should use absorbent protection on the air vent as the water may come out of the air vents.

Window AC Maintenance – Compressor:

Another important part of your window AC maintenance is to keep the compressor component free from any dirt and dust. You can use water hose to get rid of the dirt and dust. You need to do this to allow the airflow to function more smoothly across the component’s cooling fins. When you don’t need your window AC like during the winter season, just cover its compressor with a piece of cloth to prevent accumulation or buildup of dust and dirt. You should also make sure the hose connections are always free from leaks and that the condensate tube can freely drain.

Along with the window AC maintenance tips mentioned above, it is also important that you hire a professional technician to check your window AC from time to time. Performing window AC maintenance will definitely result in reasonable electricity bills and less repair costs.

How to Install a Small Window AC

The mercury is rising, the humidity is making you feel more and more uncomfortable, and these conditions only prove that you may need a Small Window AC unit. If using a big air conditioner is not possible, then why not use a small window AC unit? Most of the time, a small window AC unit is enough to give you cool air and cool your room down. It’s even a lot easier to install it than many other air conditioning units on the market. Read on and learn how to install a small window AC and you’ll definitely get the cool night’s sleep this hot season!

Small Window AC Installation

To install a small window AC, you will need a level, measuring tape, a foam strip, a screwdriver, screws, waterproof caulk, drill, and caulking gun.

Step 1: Install the small window AC mounting brackets into the window sill. Screw one end of it into the window sill and adjust the middle screw so that it would level the air conditioning unit.

Step 2: Open your window fully and slide the unit over the window sill and to the mounting bracket. Close your window on top of the casing of the air conditioning unit.

Step 3: Pull out the air conditioning unit’s extensions until they are already touching the window sides. When fully extended, start drilling small holes to the window sash. Fasten each extension to the window sash using screws.

Step 4: Fasten the window sashes using angle brackets. Insulate the gap using a strip of foam to prevent air from flowing outside the window.

Step 5: Tilt the small window air conditioning unit slightly away from your window to make sure there is proper water drainage. You should also caulk the AC unit. Plug in the AC unit and it’s time to enjoy the cool air in your room.

Other Small Window AC Installation Tips

1. Do not forget to measure the size of your room to make sure a small window AC unit is enough to cool it properly.

2. Make sure your window is in tiptop condition and that it can support the AC unit.

3. Make sure to follow the directions given in the manufacturer’s manual to make sure you install your AC unit properly.

4. Do not support your AC unit with any loose objects like a block of wood.

It really is not that difficult to install a small window AC unit and once you do you can enjoy the comfort of a cool room.

What is a Small Portable AC?

A small portable AC is a type of air conditioning unit capable of cooling a small area in a house. It can also be moved or transferred from one location to another. It is very portable and lightweight; thus, it can be carried and moved by only one person. These days, small portable AC units are already pre-installed with wheels to make the moving around easier. We all know that small spaces often result in space limitation. In addition, it is really hard to be confined in small areas particularly when the temperature is too high.

Why Should You Get a Small Portable AC?

One of the main benefits of using a small portable AC is it provides a small area its specific cooling requirement and that it can be moved from one area of the house to another. Its portability is really a good investment for those living in areas where permanent installations are prohibited. In addition, it is not required to mount a small portable AC; thus, you can save a lot of money when compared to buying and installing the window air conditioning units.

How Does a Small Portable AC Work?

It’s not hard to install small portable air conditioning units. You simply have to use a supple hose with the unit. The hose should into the window of the room and should be connected to a venting kit that allows the heat exhausts to flow outside the room, usually through a window. The venting kit hose is around 4 to 6 feet long, just enough for a small portable AC to be moved to another room that needs cooling, even without installing the hose in the new room’s window.

A small portable AC is very handy and does not require permanent fixing. It can be shifted from room to another easily, making the entire process really simple and hassle free. Because small portable air conditioning units are small in every aspect, lesser electricity is required for it to function and operate. A pre-installed time in the unit may also be used to set the time you wish the unit to operate. Typical small portable air conditions have a height of 24 to 34 inches and weight of 55 to 70 pounds. Many of these ac units come with remote controls.

The continuous headaches and sweating often encountered during the hot season are very common problems. Well, there is a perfect solution to this particular problem and it is called a Small Portable AC.
